Well, on the newer motors such as your LS1, there are alot of sensors that dont take too well to degreaser or water in general. Dont be afraid to splash them with a little water, but spraying directly on a sensor is a good way to kill one. I think most of us just use the typical elbow grease method. Get under there with a rag and start cleaning away. All I typically use is water on a rag, with a second dry rag. Then to get a good finish for shows, I use motorcycle shine (it sticks to rubbers and plastics and makes it have a glossy finish, somewhat like tire shine.).
