Default ls1 engine cleaning and detailing

the first day of SPRING is right around the corner and it's time to start thinking about cleaning off the winter dirt and dust.now we all know that as car enthusiasts there's nothing like a clean car and a detailed car, one of my biggest things is keeping the engine bay clean, keeping the bay clean in my 80 trans am was easy and i didn't have to worry about computers and all that good electrical stuff and the engine bay was'nt so tight ,now my question is for the guy's who have experience cleaning an ls1, what's the best way to clean the bay without getting the computer stuff wet and what products do you use that will clean the aluminum block and won't be to harsh on it?

I just use a couple plastic bags from the grocery store and cover up the computer and fuse relay panel. Then I mix a spray bottle of 1/4 simple green 3/4 water and while the car is running I spray down the engine bay area, next I set my hose nozzle to a fine mist setting and rinse it off while the car is still running. After that I shut off the car, dry the engine bay w/ a terry towel and then apply a coat of foamy engine detailer, the existing heat still from the warm motor will dry the detailer quickly and it will look like you just bought your car. I have never had any staining problems on the Aluminum heads or any other part from this way of doing it.
