does anyone know what the chrome looking rims on a 4th gen firebird (2001) are made out of? are they really chrome, or aluminum or something else.

Not sure, but a good rim cleaner is ArmorAl. I use them on my brushed aluminum, my dad' chrome rims, and my sister's painted rims. Works great on all 3.

On polished wheels, Mothers all the way. If not, just the usual spray and clean works fine. Since mine are powdercoated, I use the meguiars misting paint detailer.

Find a cleaner you can use on all the different metals. Some cleaners will etch aluminum, so read all labels.

I believe they're made of aluminum.

Made out of aluminum alloy and are polished then clear coated.

Use anything that you can clean clear coat/paint with. You can't use any polish because you won't be actually hitting the metal. You have to treat it as if you are cleaning your car.
