3.8 Camaro vs. 455 Cutlass
1996 Camaro RS Y87
3.8II V6, A4, 3.42's, LSD, 10" Sumitomo HTR ZIII Tires, Pacesetter Headers, Catco Hi-Flo Cat, Flowmaster 80, 3" Exhaust, K&N CAI, MSD Coil Packs, MSD 8.5mm Wires, NGK TR6 Plugs
vs.
1986 Cutlass w/ 1974 455 (210hp/350tq stock)
TH400 Auto, Thrush Glasspacks, 2" dual exhaust, K&N Air Filter and assembly, edelbrock torker intake, edelbrock 650cfm carb, non-posi, stock tires
I think I have a chance b/c A. He has very poor traction off the line B. 650cfm carb is choking his engine C. torker intake is designed for High performance applications and the car doesn't run as good as the stock manifold. D. Suspension/weight...although he has a SHITLOAD of tq
Were going to the 1/4 in May...predictions?
I've owned both cars, and I think I have a chance...but then again buttdyno's aren't always accurate

I think i'm gonna have to lean towards the Olds. Obviously he's got one of the weaker 455's there are, but the torque he's got should give him the edge. I don't have any idea why he'd have any traction problems unless he's got more done that what you've got listed there.

Yes if he gets that car to hook you may have problems.

Narrow sticky tires would help more.

I think he will get you B/C of the torque.

Or you could do what I suggested Slowass to do. Put two cinder blocks in the back.

I used to have two 100 lb weights bolted down in the bed of my truck under the bed cover so nobody knew about them.

Well this was back when he was having trouble cutting a 2 second 60' time. I was, and still am cutting 1.9s, but to my defense I run street radials, and the track is prepped pretty good.
