Well I followed my dad home in his SS from a party that we took seperate cars to. He had his radar detector so we got to have some fun on the expressway, which I don't normally since I'm only 16 and the punishments for speeding suck. But when we got off we caught a red light and instead of staying behind him I pulled up next to him. He talked to me a little and I didn't really think he was going to race because he's always telling me not to speed...blah blah blah like everyone else. But when the light turned green he floors it and I look over and see him peel out, so I floored it. We get going and I'm staying with him the whole way. The front of my car is about where the back door is on his and it stayed there. We got up to about 55-60 (35 mph zone) until we had to let off for another light. So yeah he did win, and not to sound like a sore loser and make excuses but I feel like I could have done a lot better if I knew we were going to race and I actually got a good start. Another thing was I was in regular Drive on the Auto tranny and to me the car feels faster when I use 1,2 and 3. I know this wasn't a real big race, but it was fun to me.
![]() Heres info on the cars... 2006 Impala SS 5.3L V8 303hp and a K&N CAI 1998 Firebird 3.8L V6 200hp w/ Magnaflow catback, FTRA & Whisper lid

Yeah I know. I guess they think that all teenagers talk on their phones and text and hang with their friends while they drive, while some pay attention and drive responsibly. My car motivates me to do that though more than anything. I'd hate if something happened to it.

haha yeah I know. it's a fast car, but it's still a heavy FWD sedan. I prefer his vette anyway. lol
after researching it.....Impala SS 0-60: 6.4 sec. V6 Firebird 0-60: 7 sec.(maybe less with the few things I have done to it) so as far as that goes it would be close to 60, but the SS has a higher top end, i think like 140.

wow I didnt realize it was that light. How can they make a 5 seater sedan with a big V8 almost the weight of a vette? I always thought the car was all metal, but is it that plastic composite stuff that vettes are made out of?

you have fast replies ha ha. but yeah I guess I just always thought of the vette as a super lightweight sports car. They are lighter than they were I guess cause I checked the weight of my dads 2001 C5 conv. and it's 3684# stock.
