FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA – December 29th, 2006 –An engine swap of epic proportions will happen sometime in February 2007 when car builder Wheel to Wheel Powertrain finally lowers the 1,000+ horsepower twin-turbocharged LS7 small-block Corvette engine in between the frame rails of ’The Heretic’ - a 2006 Ford Mustang project. In conjunction with powerTV, the leading online video motorsport network, Wheel to Wheel is assembling this aptly named project vehicle which will arouse emotion aplenty.
STREET VERSION STRIP VERSION
A Heretic, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, is one who holds an "opinion or doctrine maintained in opposition, or held to be contrary, of any church, creed, or belief system.” By extension, a Heretic is one who conducts themselves at variance with those generally accepted beliefs. Many will consider the marriage of a twin turbocharged LS7 and a new Mustang an act of Heresy. Wheel to Wheel and powerTV would likely agree.
The Heretic will be based around a 427ci version of General Motors top-flight LS7 power plant, equipped with twin Turbonetics turbochargers, a Spearco intercooler, and backed with a GM 4L80E automatic transmission. The engine, transmission and vehicle combination will be engineered with complete streetability, drivability, and ultimate performance in mind. The powertrain will be nestled inside a Mustang S197 chassis upgraded and built for serious performance, good street manners and handling, and adequate traction at the drag strip.
“We like the idea of combining the GM LS7 engine with the excellent Mustang rear wheel drive chassis ... ”
“We like the idea of combining the GM LS7 engine with the excellent Mustang rear wheel drive chassis,” explained Kurt Urban from W2W. “With the twin turbos installed, the LS7 engine should easily make well over 1,000 horsepower in the car. Drag strip wise, depending on
weight, it will run low 9’s and maybe high 8.90’s. Of course, this is with a real streetable car, overdrive transmission, quiet, with pretty good drivability.”
“We are excited to be working with a top-tier builder like Wheel 2 Wheel on this project,” said James Lawrence, powerTV’s President. “With their combination of fabrication skill, LSX engine knowledge, and top-tier tuning ability, if anyone can make a dream come true, it’s the mad
scientists at Wheel to Wheel Powertrain. And we’ll be there to capture the entire build online for hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts, from building the chassis to tuning, to it’s first pass down the street and dragstrip.”
“Car builders from the beginning of hot rodding have made plenty of attempts at building the ultimate street machine,” explained Brad Shantry of Wheel to Wheel. “Last year our team assembled the 1972 Nova which we dubbed ‘Super Sleeper’ which won a Hot Rod Top 10
Award for 2006. The Heretic build will be a great example of our unique combination of vehicle building ability and fabrication skill.”
Other key features of the Heretic build will include Wheel to Wheel’s proprietary Octane on Demand system, featuring dual fuel systems with pump fuel and race gas; a stunning Sherwin Williams Burnt Orange crushed glass paint job; and a dual-use suspension system which will be adjustable for street handling or drag strip use with quick-disconnect sway bars for easy track-side conversion.
The Heretic Mustang project build will be broadcast in ten different segments on powerTV’s video channels: LSX TV, Street Legal TV, and NMRA TV. Filming and production of the Mustang will take place in W2W’s Madison Heights, MI facility. Current plans for The Heretic
include the 2007 Hot Rod Power Tour, exhibition passes and display at the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl II at Route 66 Raceway, and the SEMA 2007 trade show.

EVERYTHING that shop puts out is amazing. They have a bunch of project cars linked on LS1tech. The '93 Camaro they are building right now with the 20"x13" rear wheels, and handmade fender flares is going to be insane.
