AFR are good, but can get expensive. What kind of injection will you be running: TBI, TPI, carb? On my motor I'm running the 113 casting aluminum Corvette heads. They flow better than the stock cast iron heads. My only complaint is that I should have sucked up the extra money and had a little more done to them than I did. I'll be saving that for a later date though. In the end...it depends on what you're looking for as far as power numbers.

AFR X4

I have a set of "Mongoose" heads on my LS-1. These are some of the best flowing heads on the market for just about any engine.

Heads are your lungs, get the best breathing pair you can afford and your engine will thank you for it.

What do you want to do with this car?

You could make a 550hp 383 that revs to 7500rpm, needs a 5000rpm stall converter and a monster cam---go with AFR 227's

You could make a 500hp 383 that revs to 7000rpm, needs a 4000rpm stall converter and a pretty stout cam---go with AFR 210's

You could make a 450-475hp 383 that revs to 6800rpm, needs a 3500/4000 stall converter and a noticeable cam---go with AFR 195's

YOU CAN'T GO WRONG with the new "Eliminator" line of heads from AFR. They pretty much eclipsed everything else out there. The only thing I would steer clear of from AFR is the full competition porting, which adds a LOT of money for marginal gains. All AFR heads are fully CNC'd, but the comp models have a finer cut put into the ports, and you will pay for that big time with your wallet.
