A big delima
Well, a friend of mine in a fellow f-body car club around here has wanted a camaro for his 18 year old son as a birthday present, and he doesnt want to get him a v8 for now, and he is in love with my v6. He offered me 11k cash, and we talked about it, and I told him I would think about it this week.
I never thought i'd get 11 out of it, even though I have twice that in it. But with that I could probally find an SOM WS6 if I look hard enough. Either that, or just get me a DD and be done with it for now, I havnt done any 'real' modding to my car in 6 months now. I have it to 12.8 in the 1/4th, but for me to do much more than that is going to require more than just nitrous.
Oh man the choices.
PS - The only thing im worried about, is that this car is not a normal car, or a toy. Its n/a about stock with a v8, so I dont really understand his want of my v6 instead (I suppose he couldnt mod it much more). Not to mention the chance that the kid could kill himself with a car like mine quite easily.. I mean if he tried to drive wet streets with my slicks on it with no idea how to drive one....

11k sounds like a good price IMO. There are a butt load of 4th gen LS1 fbodies near me that could be had well within that 11k range.

It's a great deal for you, but you gotta ask yourself how would you feel if something happened to that kid because he couldn't handle your car in poor driving conditions? I say if you take him up on the offer say that you want to teach the kid how to handle it in bad weather, and that you'll sell it once he shows he can handle it.

I'd personally tell the friend it's about even with a V-8 as it sets but if you can (still have the parts) give the guy the lowdown and let him decide if he wants you to revert it back to stock and keep the mod parts for birthday gifts, for a slight fee of course.
11K is very nice. And I'm sure his son would spooge with just all the visual mods you have on it alone.

Sell it! Buy an LS1 car and don't look back.

To be honest, you're gonna have to choose on your own, and what you really want to do with be what you do.
Performance wise; I'd sell it and get a LS1, don't get a DD (you always need an F-Body :P)
That car is impressive, because its a V6, but like you've said before and again in this thread, its near the end of the road within reasonable power without spending a ton of money.
So the choice is stay with that car, and drive it till it dies/you sell it again. Or if you want to go faster than you are now, try an LS1 and start modifying that.

i agree with firebirdphil if you did sell them the car and god forbid if anything should happen and he was to get hurt or hurt someone else. if the car is capable of keeping up with a v8 but he does'nt want his son to have a v8 maybe you could down grade like specialk said and take some money off the price so they can put some good all weather tires on it. give him a crash course on how to drive and handle the car responsably

Caveat emptor! I believe that is Buyer beware. So take the money and tell your friend to be cautious with his son's use of the car. Putting out 11K for your car does allow him this type of control over his son. Well, better said, if he is willing to spend 11K on his son there must be a good bit of trust between them.

11K is a good investment on a car that you know has good brakes. And honestly, if I was going to buy my kid their first car that's all Id' care about, is it have EXCELLENT brakes.

I had the kid come in today so I could talk to him about the possibility of me selling him the car. We chatted for a while, and after that, I dont think im going to sell it to him (his dad, but you get my meaning). Hes a little too immature, and I couldnt in good conscience let him drive something I know hes going to abuse, and possibly get hurt in. I dont know how i'd live with myself if he killed himself in my car.
I really want to sell it, but I just cant sell it to him. I told his dad that I might in a few years. He was very understanding about it all, and he knows my fears about it.
Besides, when the kid almost yells "Its got NAWZZ??!!" I wanted to bitch slap him. He made up my mind for me lol.
