My chic found this shit on Myspace last night... If enough people did it, it could work??

"In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices.
Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all myspace members are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the myspace network, and the
average car takes about 20 to 30 dollars to fill up.

If all myspace members did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,200,000,000.00 (that's BILLION) out of the oil company's pockets for just one day.

If you agree (which I can't see why you wouldn't) re-post this bulletin re-post it with "Don't pump gas on May 15th"

Umm go for it, more power to you. I probably wont though, only fill up once a week or so.

Yeah, I also only fill up once every week or so. My friends all have import sedans with roomier backseats and get like 30 mpg city, so they drive 9/10 times.

It wont work, and It wont even make a dent in gas sales for the day/week. If anything, it will just make prices go up later. Not that much of the US looks online, and only a select few that see this will actually attempt it

We (the US) needs to stop bitching about our gas situation anyways. We could use our own oil, but "no no, we have to save it for later" (yet we're trying different fuel methods...). I can understand the saving our oil idea, but we can't bitch when we get it for less than most european countries.

When we have to start going to kerosene with our cars (like denmark) because it's cheaper, thats when we can start bitching.

I don't think the gas companies are dumb enough to think we aren't buying gas. We can pretend we aren't, but they know better...we need it to survive. One lone day won't do anything. I wonder if the fact above about 30 cents overnight is on Snopes.com

dude, I get gas every time I drive my car and thats pretty much any time its over 60* and dry...it's nothing I'm trying to do it's just my girl and her goofy myspace shit! I need to get tune bad runin, real rich

It won't do any good.

The way to get them to see prices are too high is to avoid certain stations that get their fuel from big oil companies.
But then you run the risk of getting shitty gas. And it is impossible to get everyone to do it.

Sucks...but it could be worse.

Kerosene is diesel fuel with a few less additives. No reason it should be more expensive.
