Default Good news and bad news

Bad news is, When I bolted my bellhousing to the block, the converter wasn't set all the way in and I damaged the tranny pump. The converter must have slipped out a bit somehow.

The good news is that I was going to either rebuild my tranny or get a new one to handle the power anyway.

So the question is....what to do......

1) Get the 700r4 I have now rebuilt to handle the power.

2) Buy a new 700r4 that will handle the power.

3) Convert it to a manual.

4) Do some other combination.

I dont have a billion dollars to spend on this so think of that also.

Just my opinion but I think your best bet would be to either go manual or if you want to stay auto maybe look into a 350 or 400 turbo. Than there would be no doubt that your tranny will be strong enough to last. Of course you have to consider what gearing you are gonna be running and if this is gonna be a strip only car or a street/strip car that will see highway driving to help you decide if you need the overdrive or not.

If its a street/strip car and you are gonna run 3.73 gears or higher you would most likely want an overdrive tranny or highway driving would suck.

Well a Rock Crusher is a option. And they can be had for cheap.

Though a T-56 would allow you to run any kind of rear end you wanted and you'd still be able to cruise along on the interstate without buzzing at 3 grand. Only drawback is they are kinda expensive. But well worth it IMO for a standard.

Well at first I was gonna say rebuild yours or buy a new tranny, but since you're also gonna be using your Camaro on the strip then go manual.

If you're at the strip I'd go with a nice auto and nice torque converter. More consistant, and faster as well
