Default Horrible happenings:

I was on my way home from work today when something horrible happened. Traveling south down Patton Road I found myself behind a logging truck and two or three other cars. As we approached the intersection of Patton and Mills Road, for reasons unbeknownst to me, the cars in front of me slowed to a stop. Being a reasonable human-being I too applied the brakes and slowed to a stop behind them. As I always do when I find myself stopping on the road, I checked the rear view. To my horror, my mirror was quickly filling up with a burgandy Acura Integra who's opportunity to stop before our cars occupied the same space had long past. I let off the brake, cut the wheel, and went for the gas in an attempt to vacate the road before he reached my position. My reflexes weren't quick enough, however. He decided to pay attention to what was happening around him just moments before impact. Just enough time to get on the brakes and nosedive into the back of my car.

He damaged my bumper bad enough that it will have to be replaced. The real kicker, though, is my expensive-ass Corsa exhaust. Since he nosedived into the back of me, he totally fucked it. The premium tips are jammed way up under the car and it rattles like hell on all kinds of stuff whenever you drive. Sigh. Guess that's what I get for thinking about selling it.

Yeah, fortunately, we weren't going very fast. The speed limit on the road is 50, but since we were behind that logging truck, and had just merged in, we weren't going that fast. I was off the brake, but probably not rolling, when he made impact so it wasn't as bad as it could be. I should have taken a cell phone picture right there on the scene...but I didn't even think about it. He tore up his front bumper and caved in his hood pretty good. If it weren't for my exhaust, the damage to my car wouldn't be bad at all. Replacemnt bumper, paint, remove and install. That exhaust cost me more than all that would, though.

I've got to quit ranting.

There's the intersection. I had just merged off of Martin going south on Patton. There's a light there at the Mills intersection. The bridge over Martin is out, too. So there was no traffic we were merging in with.

Sorry to hear that!! Glad everyone is okay. I know the feeling I had the exact same thing happen to me a few years ago except I was in a 4 wheel drive truck and got hit from behind by a Ford Tempo. Hit me hard enough to total my truck.
