Default If you had a choice...

....between a 1990 or 1993 Firebird which one would you get and why?

Let say that both cars in about the same mechanical shape and the same price. Both V6.

I am in this very dilemma right now.

I like that the 1990 has a T-TOP but I kinda like the body of the 1993 better.

One more thing....

The 90' is automatic and the 93' is manual. I personally would prefer a manual tranny.

Personally i'd go with the 4th gen. Now, you said both are v6's, but you didnt say what v6 is in each? If the 93 has a 3.8 in it, i'd definately recommend that. Its one of the best motors ever made by GM.

Thanks. I am leaning towards the 93. Will find out the engine in a few hours.

The car is being sold by a friend of the owner. Owner PCSed (got transfered for you civilians) from Germany and did not have time to ship the car before clearing.

I'm pretty sure the 3.8 only became available in the Camaro in late 95 on a few Cali Camaros, then became readily available in 96. So most likely he's got a 3.4L like my 95 in that 93.

I'd choose the 1993. The only thing that you like about the 90 is the T-Tops, so I'd go with the 93

the 3.8 didnt come in the 4th gens til 95 and that was only a few cali cars....the 90 has a 3.1 or a 2.8 and the 93 has a 3.4...neither engines r great power wise. Id personally get the 93 because of the manual and cuz of it havin the newer body style

Thanks for all the input. The whole matter is an mute point now.

I went to look at the car on Tuesday and the guy selling it never showed up. I called him after waiting 45 minutes and he said he got busy and could not get to his cell phone. Funny how he answered on the first ring.

The next day I called him and he said he was going to show it to another person who he was pretty sure would by it but he would call me if it was still available. I never got a call form him so I guess I will not be buying the '93.

I have called about the '90 everyday this week but no one ever answers the phone.

I guess I am just not suppose to buy either of these cars.

1993 LT1 6 speed has way more potential for a cheaper cost. 93 is a clear winner in my book.
