Well man, you'd be suprised what really nice houses are going for down here. If anyone is looking to move south now or sometime within this year is definately the time to do it. The market really took a fall over the last 2 years down here.

I'll take a nasty blizzard over a hurricane/tornado any day. At least when it snows 2 feet, all you do is turn on the TV and crack open a beer. Your house doesn't get destroyed, and the only cleanup consists of firing up the snowblower. Plus the people up here seem to be able to deal with it a lot better than people from the south deal with their weather problems. When it snows 6" here you just leave 15minutes earlier for work, no biggie. When Atlanta gets a light dusting of snow, there's 1,000 cars stuck in ditches, into buildings, a driving ban, and the mayor declares a state of emergency.

Yeah but think about it like this- I've lived in the same house my whole life, know how many hurricanes or tornados have came even close to me during these almost 19 years- 3 hurricanes, 0 tornados *knock on wood*. The hurricanes all came in the summer of 2004 and I lost power for 3 days at the longest, yard clean up was just raking leaves and burning a few branches. Up north it's guaranteed that you're getting snow every year. Natural disasters is what home owner's insurance is for. Personally, I'll take the slight risk of hurricanes over the 4-6 months of snow. To each his own though.

x2 though from what I read in a health magazine it actually has some benefits. Since this is a really big tourist destination we're exposed to a lot of germs and sickness, and the more your immune system works the stronger it gets. So apparently anyone living in or near a tourist area will have a really strong immune system.
