Ah, sorry. I thought I set it to display the enhanced interface default.

All you have to do is this:
Go to your UserCP > Edit Options > Scroll to the bottom and there will be a dropdown box for Message Editor Interface. Select "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing"
The click save and you're all set.

or you cn do what I did, just grab your kids wipe off marker and draw a smiley face of choice on your monitor's screen..... lol
