Most of us know that GM has announced that there will be a Pontiac Zeta Platform car (same platform as the new Camaro). Now most people believe it is going to be the next GTO, which make sense to me that GM today will do that but... It doesnt make sense historically. The Firebird/Camaro were Pony Cars (Midsize cars with a V8 and susp.) and the GTO was one of the monikers of the Muscle Car (Big Car and Bigger engine). Now they want to have the Camaro and GTO the same size?
It's all marketing these days, but I don't know if I am very excited about them creating them as equals in terms of the platform. We'll see how it goes, they could bring back the Firebird, but who knows and as of right now that looks a bit far What are your opinions?

High horsepower v8's are out.
Sleek stylish gas mileage is in. Even with gas prices coming back down, people really dont want gas guzzlers. Imo its GM trying to attract any attention possible to boost some sales. You can buy a new car nowdays for the lowest prices ever seen (The dealers are actually losing money). The next car out the door will be a 'up to par' v8 GTO with more style than horse. |

Yup... it's interesting to see powerful engines getting good mileage. Makes you do a bit of a double take at the stereotype of low-tech American iron versus efficient Japanese aluminum... with new American V8's sticking close to the gas mileage of imported sedans, things are more interesting than they were even five years ago.

The LS2 thats going to be the the camaro has the AFM (Active Fuel Management) so I think it will do just fine on gas.
