Check the other stuff, but don't be afraid to play around with the air pressure.I went as low as 12lbs when i had the et streets on.But it really sucked driving in the road with the pressure that low.

The lower the pressure, the more of a footprint you will have,= better traction.

That's probably it then. Or a good portion of it. Don't bother with the small stuff trying to find and edge when your gonna change something big later down the road.

The radial will get sidewall flex. That's the design of the tire, a radial that wrinkles up like a bias ply drag tire. 25-26lbs is too much pressure trying to launch that heavy pig. Both my BFG's and M/T drag radials hooked best at 20 right 18 left before H/C. Don't be affraid to go lower. Depending on how well the track is prepped you may need to drop to around 15lbs. I've run my QTP's as low as 12.

Pinion angle and shocks play a big role launching too. If the rear shocks are shot, chances are the rer is squatting too hard and not actually pushing the tires to the ground. The suspension takes all the load and absorbs it. Get new shocks, perferably adjustable and set them at mid settings and adjust from there. Usually firmer. An airbag in the right rear can help alot. You want the tires to take the load so the inertia forces them(not the suspension) to the ground. If you have the UMI adj. T/A, take some tools with you along with the angle finder they should have supplied and set your pinion angle around -1, -2 deg.

If you are running with the front swaybar attached get new links and antiseize the threads well so they won't rot then disconnect them when you get to the track.

Thanks.

Several things to check out.
I bet the shocks are the problem at this point.

What 60ft's are you getting? ET is all in the 60. You should be able to pull easy 1.5 60's with that setup set properly and a well prepped track.

You say it looks like it's hooking which leads me to think you are experiencing my problem. On vid I can see mine smashing the tires and lifting the wheels but the 60 isn't there. I kept telling everyone it wasn't hooking cause I can hear the engine rev and see the tach slide up on the launch, they all said it was hooking hard lifting the tires. We've came up with 2 things....

1: My clutch went right after the rental. Clutch could have been slipping trying to lift the weight of the car. Seeing as you just installed a new SPEC 4 I don't see this being your problem.

2: We softened the rear shocks to gain some squat due to a poor prepped track. This allowed the car to squat and the tires to hook but once the front came back down the rear would unload allowing the tires to spin. This may be where you have a problem due to worn shocks. Is it bouncy in the back?

Well with all of this in mind I might start dripping my pressure as well. I have firmer shocks than stock, but stock ride height for now. (Saving up for coil over)

Isn't too bouncy, but it is worse than it was last year. I am done for this year, tires are done and the shocks are done.
Next year...Hoosier QTP's. I think. Still not 100% on tire, but leaning towards the QTP's.

It has cut 1.77's....spinning.

QTP's are a great tire. I love mine. Look into a set of QA1 adj or AFCO rear shocks and pick up some drag bags. Should help the launch alot. I quit racing early this season due to lack of a good driveshaft and started planning on finishing the suspension, beefing the trans and picking up a shaft for the first rental next year.

I don't race all that much, no drag bags.

Going with something simple in the rear. Thinking Koni SA's all the way around to have a little adjustability with it.

Hooking pretty decent last night...much better than any other time this season.
Anything under 5,000 RPM's would bog the car.
I kept raising the launch RPM little by little since the track hadn't hooked like that all year for me. By the time I got to my last run, I didn't care if I spun, just didn't want to bog, so I left at 5400-5500.
