Default Lancaster Dragway 1/8th-1/4 mile conversions..

For those of you that race at Lancaster Dragway on occasion, I'll let you in on a little secret. Your times will be a little slower than at any decent FLAT 1/4 mile tracks 1/8th split. Lancaster has a slight grade going uphill on the start which causes this. For example, if you consistently run 9.0's at Lancaster then you decide to head out to NYIRP, your 1/8th split will be 8.85 or so, it's usually around a tenth and a half quicker. To figure out what you'd run at a 1/4 mile track from ANY 1/8th mile time, simply multiply by 1.55. This assumes you have a good launch, and/or your car isn't some top-end monster like Bill's. So......if you are always running at Lancaster around a 9.0 and you want to know what it would run at NYIRP, just subtract .15=8.85 then multiply by 1.55=13.71sec

Uphill slope eh?? Not good.

Also...use that 1.55x to get an idea of your 1/4 times. Please don't claim them until you run them.
I know all about corrected numbers racing where I do. I claim what I run.

Yeah, I heard alot of people with manual trans. complaining about rolling out of the lights because of the slope.

Hmmm... Never been to lancaster or heard of this, good info.

I've been to ESTA (Syracuse) quite a few times, tracks not the best, but definitely not the worst either.

I drive by lancaster on 90 all the time, but have never stopped. So is NYIRP a better track or no?

I haven't been to that track since the 80's when my father used to race.
