Anybody have tips for launching? I was at the track a while back and both times I launched (Was there 4 hours, got 2 runs in. busy?) I got massive amount of wheelspin. All the way through first, second chirped and missed 3rd and went to fifth. At this point I was too frustrated so I ran a 15.8 or some shit...I figured out (and tested) how to make sure I don't miss third again but now I still need help with launching...any tips for a V8 RWD n00b?

Well, you're running a pretty much stock car. Are you getting alot of spinning or wheel hop? When I was building a friend of mine's drag car, he saw the most improvement in bagging the right rear. After we did that, it made a massive difference in traction. Also SFC's help a massive amount (sub-frame connectors).

As per tips on actually shifting and getting a good launch... its all about knowing the car, and the right feathering. I cant really tell you so much as I could show you.

As Phate mentioned SFC`s will help and some lca relocation brackets will help alot to. What kinda tires are you running on the back??

1st, 2500 dump or feather (super dependent on the track) the clutch, let it bog then roll into it. 2nd, just bomb it like you did and if you do third right you might get a chirp or not, depends on the track. That's the most common launch I've seen on our cars. And works very well. Also air down your tires, 30 psi is a bit much for racing down the track and after words your not going to drive all over with them so just remember to either ask for some air from another guy in the pit area, or bring an air bomb with you.

It's all spin, no hop. I was looking at SFCs a while back when I was looking at installing a half-cage (Makes me feel safer, not that the car actually needs it). But I couldn't find a price/part number for my car.

And speshul, hardy har har...


::EDIT:: I'm running BFG G-force KDWs all around. Fronts are close to bald and rears are getting there...wonder why that is...lol

A good set of Drag Radials might make a difference to then! I know they make a HUGE difference on my car anyway.

Mickey Thompson Street E/T's all the way my friend. Get some draglites and slap some MT's on there and your traction problems will vanish

But before i'd do drags, i'd do the SFC's. They make a massive difference in the car.

Uhh actually before you change up your tires I'd suggest, heavily, that you upgrade your clutch, and your rear. You may have only just a bit above stock power but stock power and drag tires will fry your clutch. Up the power much more and that 10 bolts gonna go bye bye. Since this is also your DD (Right?) I'd look at fixing weak links before going for broke (literally) with bigger meats.

SpecialK is correct here. But I was just giving you the answer to the question you asked, how to better get traction lol

Oh, and about missing gears... get a lous short stick. I made the mistake of getting a B&M ripper and the shaft is wayyyy too long.
