Question 2002 z28

I am looking to trade in my base model Camaro towards a 2002 Z28.

What are some simple mods or upgrades that I could do to give the car more HP?

you mean you want to mod the Z28?

FAST Intake, smooth lid and bellows, headers, exhaust, cam, heads, tune, port and polish everything...same as upgrading the V6 except you can't get a better intake manifold for the V6

Pretty much anything with the induction and exhaust system will be beneficial.

I'd start with headers, cai, exhaust, then move on to cam, heads, and intake.

It is an LS1 car.

The car does have custom exhaust already.
How hard would it be to install headers? Or chip it?

chips are a waste of money, just get a hptuner or something along those lines.

How much HP does this car have? I read online that they have 310hp. Do you guys think that 11g is a fair price for a car that does not have any body damage or interior damage. The only thing I am concerned about with this car is that the check engine light is on.

Take it for a test drive and take it to advanced auto or autozone, and they will tell you what codes its throwing for free. 11k seems a litle steep, but it depends on the mileage, you could get a cheaper one from ls1tech or some other forum probably. I'd get a loan from a bank and by from a private seller, you'll get a better deal.

The camaro i have now is financed through my credit union and the only way i can get this Z28 is to use the blue car as trade in and then get another loan for the remainder.

can't you get the loan to transfer? or would the loan be canceled then you get a new loan? cuz if you're still paying a loan on a car you traded in, walk away from the z. just financial advice on that.

as for the check engine light, point that out to the dealer, adn see if you can haggle a grand on the price. start rattling off random things that are worst case scenario like the camshaft position sensor or something like that that would trip the SES light. its probably jsut a malfunctioning sensor. and if you succeed, you've saved a grand and that should cover most of the things taht could be tripping the light.

dealers will always come down on their prices, so don't let them take advantage of you.

You said the Z has exhaust done. Check if there are cats still.
That could easily trip the SES light. If there are cats, they could still be hollowed out, or o2 sensors are probably bad.

Not always. Depends on size of dealer and how much business they are getting. Especially if you're wanting to finance they wont be so easy to haggle down. If you were paying cash though, they might be more lenient to cut you some slack.
