Default Epic emmissions test fail!

I understand this is a long shot but, awhile ago i failed everything concerning emissions. i have a 97 z28 with mods the previous owner put on of which i have no idea to what extent the car was modded. I know obvious things though that i can see. The exhaust is custom. I was wondering would this have any thing to do with the pipes or other parts like the fuel filter.
Oh, and the exhaust wreaks of fuel when its running.

it could have an exhaust leak, could be running no cat

it'd be easier if you get it diagnosed with a scanner and post up the codes your getting

then you could one by one fix them.

Is there a catalytic converter on the exhaust?

the previous owner could have gutted the inside of the CAT, this lets the exhaust flow as if there isnt one, and you would def fail your emissions test, my exhaust smelled like fuel and it turned out to be my injectors leaking.

Check your O2 sensors. Check your Cat. Check for leaks.

I used to work @ an emissions place. Yes, even with the light cut off, it will still read codes. But here in MD we don't test the exhaust on '96+ model years. It is an obd test instead.
